Located on the north side of Mt. Evans at 11,000 feet above sea level, Echo is a fun environment for snowboarders. Sholar designed and constructed the three park buildings and worked closely with the site development designers to maximize the relationship between the structures and the mountain. The main building is a two-story lodge consisting of ticket sales, management offices and the restaurant / lounge. The adjacent building has retail sales, employee services and an infirmary. Also, there is a maintenance building for equipment and vehicles. The brilliant and colorful steel structure, corrugated metal and cementitious panels are durable, contemporary materials selected to meet challenging weather conditions of the mountainous setting. The project will continue to evolve, eventually including a viewing plaza to connect the buildings to the slopes.
